Hi All,
Can anyone post a pic of how this strap is supposed to be installed?
I’ve looked at this several times but for the life of me can’t figure it out.
Pic of the strap and parts diagram (#29) attached.
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards

There’s two different styles of hood straps for the 5.5 horse Johnsons and you have the correct one for your 1955 CD-12 but it’s missing the wire clip. You’ll have to fab something up and in my photo Wedgie linked to you can see where it hooks onto the starter leg. I can’t find any photos of this clip but if you search the web you might find something.
The 376432 ’54 – ’55 straps have a loop on the end and require removing the hood pin to fasten them. The 376627 ’56 – ’58 straps wrap around the hood pin and use a stepped pin to secure the end. The later ones also snap onto a pin on top of the starter instead of using a wire clip to hook onto the starters rear leg.
