I used the Aero Gloss. It failed.
August 29, 2016 at 12:30 am #42859I used that Aero Gloss as well, and it failed for me as well.
August 29, 2016 at 12:59 am #42861After reading all these I guess I’m pretty glad I haven’t bought any to try myself.

August 29, 2016 at 4:48 am #42869You might try looking on the internet to see if you have any gas stations or fuel suppliers or marinas in your area that sell gasoline without the alcohol . I think the site is called real gas .com or pure gas .com it shows state by state where pure gas is sold. You might be lucky and have a supplier near you . Their pumps have a insignia on the front denoting gas without alcohol. This would solve your problem you would not need to coat your float. Bill,

August 29, 2016 at 4:20 pm #42885May I suggest that we start comparison testing in pint mason jars?
E90 and Non E fuel types for each coating material.
Maybe pieces of balsa wood for floats or even better float type cork. We need all from the same source.
It may take years.
Would we want to change the fuel every so often to mimic what happens in real life motors?
This would make a good future article in our publication.
I’m doing real life testing with POR-15 in a 1957 Johnson 35hp motor using E90 ran until empty after every use.
This thread may be a good place to post photos and gather data.
Aero Gloss is out of the running!

August 29, 2016 at 10:26 pm #42897I’ve done several floats with 2 coats of Aero-Gloss and have had no problems. I coat every cork float I come across with it. Of course, any old coating that’s flaking off has to be sanded lightly to get rid of all the loose stuff. I never thought of using POR-15. Does this add any significant weight to the float? The stuff I’ve seen guys put on rusty car frames looks like it goes on pretty thick.

DaveYou may be lucky so far, or it hasn’t come off yet, but it will. Don’t go on any long excursions with the motors you have used it on.
