When replacing a coil on the lamination, does it mater how far back the placement is on the laminations? I see that they are usually close to the front. This is on the Neptune upgrade where one coil is replacing two………….Brian

On the laminations for your Neptune, what matters more is that it doesn’t rub on the moving parts.

Thanks John .I ‘d like to get the Neptune going this spring but in the mean time doing this kind of stuff keeps the interest going and the -20c weather at bay. Thanks again………..Brian

Hope it all works well. I have several brands that use that same coil. Seems like a flawed design to make a product obsolete within a few years.

I have installed quite a few OMC coils on various motors, including Martin and Elgin. The placement of the coil on the laminates didnt seem to matter on those engines. In fact I slid the coil as far back as it could go, to be able to bend over the locking tab thus securing it from sliding off.

As long as it’s fully on the lamination the flux energy will transfer to the winding on the coil. Primary is the inside wrap

The responses are just what one needs to feel a little more assured. Thanks, ……Brian
