The fuel pump I have (had laying around) has 5/16 th barbs
As far as I can tell -the original carb on the 1955 RDE-17 25 hp Johnson has 3/16 barb
(Please correct me if I am wrong)
I was planning on finding some kind of reducer to connect the 5/16 to 3/16
      1. Will this pump be too strong?
2.What is the hose size on a 2 line hose?

I just put new 3/16" ID fuel hose on my RDE-17, but kept the original pressure
system, so I’m no help on the pump.

        Prepare to be boarded!

The original fuel line size is actually a touch under the modern 3/16 at 5/32

All the common fuel pumps put out the same pressure because PSI is determined by the crankcase pressure. However, it is possible that you could find something that cannot produce enough flow rate to satisfy the motor’s thirst. I doubt that is going to happen with a pump that has large fittings.
