I have a 1934 Sea King with a bad coil. I am curious if anyone knows of a modern replacement and if there were any instructions or videos on making the modern one work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil Curry

February 28, 2020 at 7:28 pm #196144I had purchased one of the black coils to try my hand at using it to replace a speedster coil. I think I’ll give the OMC coils a go. Thanks for the pics Tubs.

The OMC coils aren’t going to fit over it anyway, and the laminates will
have to be sized to fit them. I have no experience with a coil conversion
on this model, so I’ll let someone else tell you how to best proceed.Prepare to be boarded!

Stanley, are you referring to the scintilla coil? I seem to remember reading that after removing the rivets, you push out the laminates starting on the inner ones and working your way out. Maybe??? Is that how you did it?
