      Looks like Mr. Mumbles was having the same problem with that pesky spring in the Walbro carb.
      Just found this thread from a while back.

      I’m not sure I left the spring in the carb last time I worked on it, if not, not sure I’ll find it again.
      I would not have thrown it out, but where I put it is the question!

      Anyway, time to go to the garage and have a look-see.

        It’s the trusty ol 3.6 Scott made since ’47, with the annoying modification by McCulloch ( switching carb from Tillotson to Walbro). Your model Id says ’63, which is the first year Sears marketed it as 3.5 .

        Nice little putt-putt if you can get the carb to behave…

          I found the annoying little float pin spring I stashed away, and re-installed it
          like seen in Mumbles photos, but I have not throw in back in the test barrel
          to see what happens…… it was a much needed all day down pour that day,
          but I’ll throw it back in the barrel today.
