Just acquired this outboard. In good condition, compression checked out at 80 PSI and good spark. The gear case leaks, need new prop shaft seal and the carb needs new bowl gasket. Been surfing the net trying to find parts, found water impeller, but no luck on the seal and gasket. Anyone have an ideas?
The part number I have for the seal is an old number and haven’t been able to cross reference it. 201917
Will appreciate any help I can get.December 19, 2015 at 12:50 am #28792There are sites on internet that sell oil seals by size. Measure your shaft size and outer seal diameter and you can get a modern seal part # . I did this for my Scott Atwater and found the seal at O’Riley Auto parts. Gaskets can be made from gasket material from auto parts store.
December 19, 2015 at 9:28 am #28811The seals for your Sportsman are NLA and probably have been for years but the good news is they can be replaced with current SKF seals. The part number for the SKF seal for the driveshaft is 4770 and for the propshaft seal it is 5523. The original seals had a retaining ring on them so these ones need a good sealer on them while installing to help hold them in place. Gear oil must be used to instead of grease as there is a ball bearing on the bottom of the driveshaft.
December 19, 2015 at 2:03 pm #28818On the subject of sealing. I notice as with my 7.5 around the same year I’m working on the parts diagrams are not showing any kind of gasket material when putting the pump body and exhaust housings back together. Does anyone use some kind of form a gasket or other material? Or am I worrying too much 😕

You post a diagram of the lower unit, would you have one for the power head and fuel tankDecember 19, 2015 at 11:34 pm #28848Where did you find the impellers for that motor?
December 20, 2015 at 4:31 am #28869I actually own two of these little buggers. Very good little motors. Simple and reliable.
