I have started on an old ’69 9922S and broke the little nipple off the fuel pump.
The black plastic Bakelite body part . . . I have it repaired but that is not the issue.
The issue is I am trying to find a fuel gasket kit for it and the profile does not match
anything I have found on the net. The parts drawings on the net show a square type body
and here is a photo of what I have. P/N on the body is 304089. Any help appreciated.
October 20, 2015 at 11:41 pm #25822From the NAPA catalog – cross reference the numbers . . . 🙂
October 20, 2015 at 11:49 pm #25823Thanks Gary. But none of those will fit what I have….. I have seen that drawing on the net.
Please notice the "notch" on the pointy end of my posted photo.I just now saw a similar pump on ebay and it is . . . .
1960s Eaton Viking Canadian Outboard Motor Model 5D 17V (5 HP) FUEL PUMP #304089
So somewhere up the line, I guess somebody changed it out.388833 is the original fuel pump. I guess I will go back to that one.
Thanks !!
October 21, 2015 at 1:54 am #25830If you’re trying to make a showroom/personal collection original, then continue on your quest. Otherwise I’d just update to the small square fuel pump where parts and new units are abundant. The screw holes fit into the old ones fine.
October 21, 2015 at 1:55 am #25831That diaphragm fits the pump on my 1967 Fastwin. AFAIK, those pumps are no longer available but you should be able to use one of the square ones. I have a square one on my 9.5 and have rebuilt it with a Sierra kit with good results.
Fastwin fuel pump # is 380016 for what it is worth.
October 21, 2015 at 2:14 am #25833Thanks guys, I just want it to run decent . . . I will clean up this antique pump
and list it here in the classifieds to offset the price of a new, modern square body pump.
I bought this one off of ebay for a Johnson Evinrude pre 1993 9.9-15hp 397839 397839 18-7350
The seller said it will work on my 9-1/2.I have the gummed up carb soaking in a can of parts cleaner now . . . should be all good soon.

October 21, 2015 at 4:18 am #25838In the world of "Could’a Would’a Should’a"……. while you were down at the National Meet on Lake Shipp last weekend you "should’a" told me you were looking for one. At that point I "would’a" told you that there were quite a few over in the SE corner of the meet for sale by Rick Hawkinson at which point you "Could’a" walked over and bought one or more.
October 21, 2015 at 12:07 pm #25848LOL I only opened it up yesterday….. this guy in Ocala wants to trade it for his ’61 40hp Sea King.
I pulled a little on the gas hose and the little plastic nipple broke off . . .
so I removed the pump just to look inside, it was like Black Strap Molasses inside. yuk
So I said I will just find another pump on ebay . . . that is when I find out it is not the original fuel pump.
So now, I will get the appropriate pump that will work, get the motor running – then trade for the 40 Johnson.
THEN, that will be my trader to find another ’58 Sea Horse 35 !!! whew, that’s my plan LOL.
When you are not mechanically inclined, it makes life a whole lot more frustrating !and it was a PLEASURE to meet you in person at Lake Shipp !! Hope we can meet up again soon .
The wife was really sick just after we left and is just now recovering….
she missed two days of work. But she is good now.
Hope to make the Suwanee meet this time . . . your vids are awesome.
