The carb float in HD-25 is shot. I could make a new one out of cork, but the dope to seal it would cost more than a Mercury plastic float, which I read can be used. On the Poche website he mentioned that the Merc float would have to be modified. Does anyone have experience with this?
May 8, 2021 at 4:18 pm #237993folks here will tell you they work fine but you need to drill a center hole for the pin and clip .. never done one myself but if the Merc float is the same diam. no reason not to work

May 9, 2021 at 7:20 am #238021I think you’re right. The Merc part number I have for the float is a different number than the one in the picture. Thanks for the replies.
May 10, 2021 at 9:41 am #238084I’m thinking that the TD/TN float is 1 1/8″ diameter, and the HD float is 1″ diameter, but not exactly sure. Is there one Mercury float for the “T” series, and a different one for the “H” series?

I would make one from cork and seal it with old time acetate dope, but whatever makes you happy and floats your cork.
May 10, 2021 at 1:30 pm #238108I found a large cork, Superglued it to a large screw head, and sanded the cork to size in my drill press. I sealed the cork with Seal-All, which in my experience is very fuelproof. Thanks for all of the assistance, I’ll hopefully try out the motor today.
