Frederic, I own a 1937 SM. The operators manual is a soft copy found on the internet. You can download the pages I posted to your computer and print as many copies as you need.

April 13, 2020 at 8:39 am #199882Ok, now I have a “copy” of the owners manual. Thank you again WB and other responders. I now realize that my gasoline cap does NOT have a VENT-Screw. Perhaps this is NOT the original gas cap thought it does appear to be vintage and it fits perfectly. I presume that without the vent screw open (as instructed in the operation manual) the motor will quit on me once it is going because a vacuum will be created in the gas tank as gas in burned during operation…is this true? If yes, does anyone have a extra gas cap for a Bendix Eclipse TMD 1939 for sale ??? 😉

April 13, 2020 at 10:34 am #199891Yes, in the pictures that I posted there appears to be the “correct” cap…I see that now. However, when he sent me the outboard it came with a DIFFERENT gas cap WITHOUT the vent screw. I never noticed this switch up until right now. It was never an issue because I haven’t had the desire to get this motor running until now and I never had an owners manual that brought my attention to this problem. See attached pics of gas cap that came with the motor. Thank you.

April 13, 2020 at 2:10 pm #199921A vise grips might tell the truth, then you could
find or make a new vent screw.Prepare to be boarded!
