I finally found the long lost parts for my HA-10 starter but not sure about them. There was one flat washer included but should there be three of them and how do the parts stack up? This motor was apart when I got it so I have no record of it.
I found this photo which was posted here earlier but it doesn’t show any washers.

January 8, 2021 at 5:45 am #227213Mumbles, those pawl springs will fair better if the tag end that goes though the large post goes over the top of the coiled section of the spring. Then the tag end can be bent downward slightly to retain the spring. This will help prevent uncoiling and give a longer life to these delicate springs.

Yeah, I was wondering about that after I put them on. Something didn’t look right. I’ll get them on the correct way when I take it apart again as Tubs great diagram shows the thin washers below the ring, not on top where I placed them. Thanks guys, all good information!

What’s an IPL?
January 8, 2021 at 3:04 pm #227251Nice looking HA-10! And yes, the thin washers go under the large ring so that the ring will not rub against the pawls as they move.
When you get around to starting the motor you will surely need new Primer Pump Leather Seals and instructions with diagrams for proper installation. I just made up a fresh batch a few days ago.

And no, I don’t have an IPL. Just what austinsailor has to offer.
