Hello everyone,
I am working on a 1967 Johnson JHF 22S 3hp folding motor. I would like to replace the upper housing grommet part number 0205572, however it is no longer available. Does anyone know of a suitable substitute for this grommet? I don’t really know what the grommet looks like. I am hesitant to remove the original grommet without having a replacement on hand. Any suggestions ?
Thank you
Rob

If I knew what the grommet was suppose to look like I may be able to modify another part and make it work. I have not removed the grommet from my motor. If I have to I will run it the way it is, just hoped to replace it while I was waiting for warm weather.
Thanks
Rob
February 10, 2022 at 7:12 pm #254377I have 1 that a havent put in my johnson yet. I can take a picture of it tomorrow. The flat surface is thicker than a standard grommet. I think a 317372 with the flat surface(some dont have the flat surface), might work if you glue a rubber washer to it

February 10, 2022 at 7:16 pm #254382I think this is same size but top part is thicker on 205572. Maybe glue rubber washer to top?

February 11, 2022 at 12:52 pm #254419317372 is on left. 205572 on right. They look the same size. Outer and inner diameters are only a couple thousandths different. The flat part that seals against the surface of lower unit that folds is 5/32 thinner on 317372. Maybe you can find a 5/32 piece of rubber to cut out and glue to it. Not sure what kind of glue. Maybe another member can give advice. Maybe super glue, weatherstrip adhesive, marine silicone. Just a suggestion. Good luck
