This 1938 LT-38 has the plunger pump that runs off a cam on the propeller shaft.  Everything was clean and all balls were in place – what is the best way to tell if it is pumping water when running in a tank?  Thanks

If you’re running it in a test tank or lake with cool / cold water, you
should be able to feel the copper water line by the powerhead
and feel the cold water pumping through.
Also, some people drill a tiny hole in the lower elbow where the
copper line attaches to act as a “Tell – Tale” to see the water
        shoot out.

Another option is a laser  temperature gun . They can be found for around $10.00. They’re not super accurate. Mine seems to be about 3 degrees low but its close enough for my needs.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
