Just picked up a 1953 Evinrude Big Twin yesterday an it was a nice find. New coils plus pressure tank. Yes, the shrouds and such are included, but setting aside while I test run it. 🙂 🙂

A ’58 Fastwin Electric! Very nice catch. I don’t though. My ’53 Big Twin is probably a little more scarce, especially since the tiller is present.

58 was the last best year for the 18. Much better shrouding and more brass hardware, versus plastic.

Yea Mumbles, this thing has excellent compression and beautiful mechanic condition. I think a re-seal on the lower end and a complete rezpaint will do this a wonder.

Been a while sense I’ve seen the pulley & cable throttle on my early Johnson, thinking a 1951 22hp or maybe 23, I forget. What a cool motor!!

Yea, its amazing how simpllified the ’55 and newer Big Twins were, compared to this one, as far as linkage goes.

The water passages that come off the water pump, are a real trip on these too. That actually simplified stabbing the lower unit back on, without having the water tude to simultaneously stab, along with the drive shaft.
