There was a thread a few years ago that addressed this subject, and it was brought up that the fat o-ring is used on the QD-14. Looks like Steve D is correct.

The first patent for the O-ring, is dated May 12, 1896 as a Swedish patent. J. O. Lundberg, the inventor of the O-ring, received the patent

January 3, 2021 at 9:48 am #226884OK, well that sure looks like the oring, but why would it be included with this kit. Doesn’t look like any of the pieces in this kit would fit on that old QD carb……
January 3, 2021 at 12:18 pm #226892I have no idea Don, maybe OMC made a mistake they never bothered to correct? Like you said, it really doesn’t make any sense but management kept me in the dark on that decision.
January 3, 2021 at 2:26 pm #226902I believe that o-ring was used in one of the motors where the kit is applicable. But I’ve just spent a couple of hours trying to remember where. I’m thinking one of the newer models. ?????
January 3, 2021 at 6:38 pm #226948Instead of getting a kit, twice now I’ve stacked two O-Rings from a Harbor-Freight O-ring assortment in place of that donut gasket and they have worked fine. They were 1/16 inch cross section and – oh darn I don’t remember for sure but either 5/16″ or 1/4″ I.D. – which ever fit slightly snug over that jet.
