I have the old rings out of the kg7. I spent a lot of time today trying to find new ones. Any one have ideas on finding them? I’ll start looking at older ask member questions. Thanks

I think there was a similar discussion very recently?  I couldn’t find any with a brief search.

          Rings, Piston 39-20058
          Same part # for KE7,KF7 & KG7
          Have you tried Fergusson Poole?
If all else fails Otto Gas Engine (requires you to measure pistons to get correct size if I recall)
          Good Luck

It is easier to find what you are looking for if you know what you are looking for.
Always a good idea to start with part name and part #.

Thanks just found Ferguson, getting new rings ordered. What do you guys  think I should replace the rings on both piston’s since I’m in there?

It depends. If you had good compression, like 110 or higher, those rings are seated and installing new rings could result in a loss of compression. If the motor has seen a lot of use, new rings might be beneficial. Somewhere in between – ? No matter what you decide this motor will be a strong runner.

Be sure to check end gap at the top & bottom of stroke plus check clearance from ring land & ring. I had a 48 Plymouth sand buggy with a 2″ driveshaft flathead 6 & we put in new rings never checking end gap. It was so tight after warming up it wouldn’t turn over. We had to drag it backwards to free up the rings. WE pulled it down again & corrected end gap. Be careful filing the rings they break essy, I learned.PS hone the cylinders too.

There is no way to tow a kg7 backwards to free the rings.
