The old charts called for a Champion M5. Do some searches
and see what a modern equivalent may be.

Thanks for your help.. Having trouble finding a plug .. the closet I can find is a champion RD16 for a1942 light four 9.7
Do you think that would work?

Are your plugs holes 18 mm?
According to this chart, a 5M Champion, which I assume
is the same as a M5, is 18 mm, and is on the cold end
            of the heat range.

I see RD16 is 18 mm, but a resister type plug, which I’m told to avoid in magneto
              type outboards.
This chart say you need a Champion 509 or D9…..
