February 2, 2016 at 10:57 pm #31252Let me look through my parts. I am slowly working towards building seal kits for every motor. I have not got to the Champions yet. Ill get back to you.
February 3, 2016 at 12:52 am #31256Look up Motion Industrys. They have many seals & bearings going by size. Take to the counter guy & he may have several different seals that will fit
February 3, 2016 at 12:54 am #31258The only issue with that Jeff is they sometimes sell you a steel seal. Ive tried them as experiment, after a season the shell is rotted out.
February 3, 2016 at 4:46 am #31268You might try a metric size as in 14mm X 22mm X 7mm. It’s only a quarter inch thick, but they worked on my Voyager’s gear shift gear box. The outer diameter of this seal seemed too snug of a fit so you may have to enlarge the hole in the end cap. This is a fairly common size as I noticed that Honda motorcycles use them.
February 3, 2016 at 1:32 pm #31282The seal that was leaking, I removed from the gear case. It was all rubber. I checked with Motion Industries, trying to find a brass or all rubber seal.
No luck so far. I’ll wait on Chris, see what he comes up with.
ThanksFebruary 3, 2016 at 9:17 pm #31300Well, I think I have a solution, or two.
I can either A:
Have a run made of these, custom made, but I would have to order 500 min. I normally don’t mind that, but Im not sure this would be a very popular seal kit to sell. If I ordered 500, my grand kids would still be selling them I would think.
My other option, is I can piggy back on another guys order, that is VERY similar. The only difference, is that these would be half the width, 3/16" wide, not the 3/8" you mention. that is not really an issue, as you could stack 2 seals in there, front to back, and would really get a better seal that way anyways. Is the drive shaft seal the same size on the Champion? I wonder if any other brands would share that size seal?
Anyways, if that interests you, let me know.
February 3, 2016 at 11:35 pm #31306When I pressure tested the gear case the drive shaft did not leak. Size unknown.
I would like to order two seals. please advise the cost and method of payment. I have pay Pal. -
