I have older 6 hp Viking eatons of canada. Model 64021 serial 1479. I have done some work to bottom end. Thought should pressure test bottom end before final assembly. When preforming pressure test of 10psi noticed very bad leak down around shifter rod in the area it enters bottom housing. I do not seem to see any sort of means for sealing that area? I do not have manual and have not been able to locate one online. Just wondering if something is missing. Wondering when i bolt bottom end back to motor does it rely on splitline to keep water out?

Your 1970 motor was built by Chrysler for the T. Eaton Company so finding a Chrysler parts manual would be the first step. There are some Chrysler experts here so one may be able to post a manual.

I did find this and copy it from another forum and it gives lots of information on your motor.

‘That’s a 1970 6hp made by Chrysler for Eaton’s. Chrysler bought out the West Bend Aluminium manufacturing company sometime in the mid 60s, and their outboard division along with it. Later Chrysler sold it to US Marine who sold the engines under the name "Force". Finally, Mercury Marine picked up Force and put the name (and outboards) to rest in the 90s. I’ve got a little additional information on it from a Viking owner’s manual:Horsepower 6 Brake HP at 4500 RPMEngine two cycle two cylinder, alternate firingBore and stroke 2” x 1 11/16”Displacement 10.6 Cu. In.Carburetor Float feedConnecting rod Forged Nickel Steel – Uncased needle bearings at crankshaft. Cased needle bearings at piston pinCrankshaft Forged Nickel Steel. Cased upper Main bearing. Bronze lower main, centre main and thrust bearingsPropeller Aluminum alloy – 7 ½ Dia. X 7 ½ pitch, Right hand rotationCooling Water cooled – positive displacement type water pumpTransom height 15”Weight 55 Lbs.Fuel mixture 24:1 1/3 pint SAE outboard engine oil to 1 gallon of regular gas – 85 octane Avoid ‘PremiumÂ’ gasolines with 95 octane and antiknock additivesRecommended Operating range – 4000 – 5000 RPMI would use TC-W3 rated outboard oil in it as it’s far superior to motor oil for outboards. Lower unit oil should be 90 weight outboard gearcase oil (you can get it from Canadian Tire). Don’t use plain gear oil as it won’t absorb water like the outboard stuff does (in case the gear case leaks).’

Gofish2, PM me your email address and I can send you a digital 1966/67 Chrysler service manual for a 6 and 9.2hp outboard.

Hopefully this is the correct service manual.
