Working on rd-17 johnson type. have crank out…. It has needle bearings on all 3 mains. Bottom main just slides off.
Center main – just slid cage and shell sideways and removed needles. Still a snap ring arround the shell on the middle shell. It hooks between the
2 holes. Not sure how to remove the shell for inspection…… it is trapped between the throws- does it come appart some how if I remove the snap
ring ???????? (like a left and right half ? )
I also dont see how the front shell comes appart- i dont see a snap ring on that one….. have not removed needles from it.
It cant slide off the top because the ignition cam is in the way. is the cam "pullable" and is it keyed into the keyway to locate it ????
Do i pull it with a puller and then slide the front bearing off that way ???????

i have the sealock manual but it really doesnt say– as it starts with 1958– and I think I am a 54 ……..

      I know there must be a way !!!!! 🙂

Center bearing is simple. Just remove the snap ring. Top main is even simpler. Just slide it off—after you remove the cam. It just slides off also. Yours may have a bit of rust or something which is keeping it from sliding. And yes, there is the key also.

          OK – thank you frank—–
I will try a puller on the cam. The top bearing IS loose and slides easy– it appears to be OK– just like to see inside it.
Will try that — thank you—

If I may add a suggestion, Use something like a hair drier to expand the cam. Look for cracks too in the cam. Also be sure to get the cam with
top side up, reversing the cam on the shaft. The old oils left plenty of crud behind. Good luck!
