Looks like Marine Engine updated their site and we lost more online manuals.
March 11, 2016 at 8:17 pm #33257Yes, does look like the site has changed a bit. I’m not sure what manuals you are referring to, I still see E/J parts books going back to 1955. Don
March 11, 2016 at 10:36 pm #33261The prices do not stop going up though.
March 12, 2016 at 2:22 pm #33287I tried to look up the 1955 5.5 hp, (parts and enigine diagram) and it said it’s not available online anymore. 🙁 1958-9 works tho…
March 12, 2016 at 7:26 pm #33303I just tried to look up parts for a 56 FDE 10. Looks like 1956 is gone as well.
March 12, 2016 at 8:03 pm #33309Hey Jeff,
I have that manual. Call me if you need to. I can text or email you pics.
ScottMarch 12, 2016 at 10:59 pm #33319That’s too bad they redid their site. I’ve used the parts diagrams and parts look up a lot. Boats .net dosn’t have diagrams either any more that I can access, on my cell phone anyway.
Why they gotta do that ? BRP maybe said to stop displaying their diagrams?"Some people want to know how a watch works, others just want to know what time it is"
Robbie RobertsonMarch 12, 2016 at 11:39 pm #33321👿 They must have changed their shipping arrangements as well. I have been waiting a week and a half for a carb kit!
March 13, 2016 at 12:04 am #33328Guess it’s time to get the old Eastman Kodak micro fiche reader out. (Big unit) I have had it forever. It goes back to 1952 Johnson and 1954 Evinrude (or vice versa). Anybody ever work on one of those machines? A few years ago something broke inside and it doesn’t focus well anymore. The sliders don’t move well either, but just figure it needs a good cleaning. Looks like I am going to need it. Better than parts books, but still slower than computer.
I noticed that ME had quit ’55 & ’56 about a week ago. If you have the part number, they still have the part. Not sure why they would do that? I don’t think it would have anything to do with BRP. I get my parts from Seaway in Seattle, WA. A lot of ME parts are drop shipped from there. When it takes a long time for you to get your parts that is why sometimes or they had to order from BRP. Just my opinion.Dan in TN
April 1, 2016 at 7:39 pm #34190Dan,
I got the fish deal on Mercurys from an older member. I too need to clean it up too. It may be slow but it is dependable. Not for sale & when I don’t need it any more I will give it away to a member. -
