Was hoping to take the newly “gone through” Martin 100 for a
boat test by now, but for the last two weeks while working on
the 1931 OMC 402, the Martin was slowly peeing gas down it’s leg.
Couldn’t tell from where with the cowls on, and was somewhat
perturbed about it, so no hurry.
Finally tore into it, and discovered the brass carb float that I repaired
had another crack, and the float was half full of gas.
Hence, the shut-off valve must be leaking by a little as well.

      For a Plan B, in case I couldn’t find a new float,
I shook the gas filled float, and couldn’t get one drop of gas to
come out. Perplexed, I got out the heat gun and heated up the float,
and the leak revealed itself shortly. Tiny little crack barely visible.
Drilled out the crack, got the gas out, and re-soldered the float.
Got smart this time around, and submerged the float in a jar of
gas to test for leaks. So far, so good.

Plan A, I searched for a new float. Appears to be hard to find,
and some of the Carter N brass floats over the years (Non outboard)
      appear a little different.
Some research gave me hope that one of the Kohler engine floats
might work, so I ordered one of those.

Plan C – Anyone know for sure of a good replacement, lol?

This picture is from  a 75-TS I have. Carb looks the same. I bet you could by a complete 75 for what a new float would cost, if there was one available. There really isn’t much interest in most Martins but after my experience with the one I have I am really impressed with them. Because of age my “I want one” list has gotten a lot smaller but the 100-TS is still on it.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I’ve often wondered just how many variations there are with Carter “N” carburetors.  Discount marine parts has done a great job of listing them all down….along with their applications.

I imagine that Tom has already referenced resources like this….but maybe someone else might benefit.

Maybe they could sell you a float?

You might call or email Russ. I’m sure he would tell you what parts cross over.    https://martinoutboards.com/

              Thanks for your replies.
The float I ordered, that I’m not sure will work yet,
              was about $15.

I didn’t think to look at Discount Marine site, but will. Thanks!

Russ’ site says “Call” regarding said float.
I believe when I did see them listed, he was asking $30, plus $10
shipping. Russ already got a couple of hundred out of me on the
              Martin 100 project already, lol.

Will let you’ll know if the order Kohler float works.
