In flushing out the fuel tank I found a whole bunch of little very small clover leaf shaped discs and when I pulled the fitting out of the tank it had a 1″ long triangle rod coming out of it and the little discs have that same triangle hole in the center. What kind of filter is this? Temporarily I just threaded the fitting back in and will be careful when poring in the fuel…is there an upgrade for this filter?

outboards have?Prepare to be boarded!

February 22, 2022 at 4:24 pm #255131Dave, Here’s a pic of the little brass pieces from the filter in this merc…may not be all of them and I’m sure I destroyed the filter by blowing air thru the tank trying to clean it out. The brass fitting that threads into the tank has a 1″ or so long triangular rod sticking out of it that these little pieces slide over. I’ll just do what Buc suggested and solder in a piece of brass screen for a filter.
