I’ve been trying to figure out what parts I need to get to run a fuel pump on a kg7 or any green top Merc. I’ve been looking for information on how to hook one up. I’ve read to use a manual k 25 transfer port cover because it has a hole u can thread. What size pump should I use an can I run the aj32 or put a mark 20/25 carb on it.I’m fairly new to this so sorry for my lack of knowledge on the parts are called. Thanks for any help I can get.

October 15, 2023 at 8:28 pm #281704A KG7 doesn’t have a fuel pump, it is gravity flowIf you want to go to a remote fuel tank you need to change to a pump type caeb too.
October 16, 2023 at 9:59 am #281730I’ve seen videos of people running of an external tank seem cool to me. I thought it was possible to drill the intake port for vacuumed for a pump.

October 16, 2023 at 10:42 am #281732you could just drill a 1/4 hole in one transfer port cover put a small square omc pump on a plate (also drill 1/4 inch in line with the pump ‘s rear pulse port .
Before you do all this choose the best port so the pump will not interfeer with the cowl.
the carb should be ok as is.
see OMC mod in picture adjust the plate to match the transfert port cover ….. mount the pump, plate and transfer port with longer bolts .
you may need to resurface the transfert port cover over flat sand paper surface doing figure 8s to make it 100% flat under the new aluminum plate .
attach the pump from the under side of the new plate.
you can off-set the pump so bolt heads will fit in the transfer port cavity just make certain the pulses will reach the pump’s rear port…. apply sealant on the transfert port rim to prevent leaks under the plate
hook up the pump to a new side fuel connector or directly to the fuel tank. hook up the fuel outlet to the carb
all that said and done.. purists will disagree modifying your antique ob
jmho..

October 17, 2023 at 9:58 am #281773If I use the nipple version should I change both port covers or does it matter.I bought some mercury mark 25 intake port covers for easy drilling. What size pump should I use.
