I was fearing that the costs would be expensive. Problem is most good used parts are very hard to find. Be patient & keep the search up, something will turn up. Only guy I know to ask is Dave Bernard, he has been my friend for over 10 years & knows old Merc’s very weii. He has a friend Bob Grubb that they worked together on Merc’s for years. Call Dave & tell him I sent you 914 310 7086, he is in New York, nice guy. I too think Doug Penn although he likes OMC & very old motors. He is on the web too. Just thought of another guy, Dan Gano 712 336 3297, he might have a sourse too, I hope he still has the same number or try the web. I will keep trying to help you too. Don’t give up, they are oout there  somewhere!!

Dan Gano retired and sold his business. Mot sure if the new owners are selling parts or not.

        Anyone know?

                Jay,

I remember reading about aircraft radial motors from the 40’s. No pistons were available so they took the cylinders & had them plated in the bore, then rebored to fit the old pistons matching pistons to each cylinder to complete the refirbish. The engines, Pratt & Whitney motors 1200hp passed FAA inspections & now in the air again. Another possabilty maybe?

Have you had any luck on E Bay?

I would suggest that you look for a used power head.   Resleeve  the bore would be expensive, custom pistons expensive too.   Unless you are a machinist with a million dollar CNC machine you have a long row to hoe!

                      Labador Guy,

I agree with you but parts are getting hard to find. I want a KH7 shift seal & been looking a very long time. Anyone know where to get a new one? Using a Mark 25 gearcase on a KH7 &  the mk seal is too wide to fit.

You can get any seal by size.  Somebody on this site will post a chart for ID/OD and width.   You just need to be able to measure accurately.   Sometimes it might take a couple tries and a few extra dollars but it can be done!
