I have a good working 2 line Johnson/Evinrude pressure fuel tank…I now have a Mercury MK20…with the 2 line set up…although the fittings would need to be changed, can you use the Johnson tank with the Mercury? I notice the line diameters are the same for the Johnson…but Mercury has one small and one larger diameter. Seems it should work??
But you don’t have to change the fitting on the OMC tank line. Just get the two line fitting that goes on an OMC motor and hook that up to the Mercury fitting with a short piece of two line hose. Then you won’t have to switch back when you want to use the tank with an OMC motor.
That seems like a pretty slick set up, but would the different diameter Mercury hoses mate up correctly with the back of the OMC connector (motor mounted end)?
I would probably put a smaller sized fitting on the merc connector and eliminate the different sized hose situation all together. The Mercury hose is no longer available.
Yes, I have a Mercury tank, but I have yet to restore it. I have run our Mk-20’s on one of our Evinrude tanks several times. Just put a smaller nipple on your Mercury fitting so it will connect to the OMC hose.
I concur on the "cheater" adapter piece. I’ve got several that I keep near my test tank for use with various odd brand motors. Most of my tanks are OMC, so having adapters that just plug in make life much easier…
