      Tuds, great work , as usual. Shows just how useful this “beer can” rod can be. For those that are purists, be aware that after some time the filler material will change color to a dark grey, not matching the adjacent aluminum.

        There is some confusion in these posts. I’m not talking about the typical rods shown on all the internet media. I have some of those that are for aluminum only. I’m talking about experience with the Muggy Weld product, which is totally different.

          Yes, there are two completely different products being discussed here. The “internet” stuff, I called it the beer can rod. This is a zinc rod that I believe was used by Tubs to preform the repairs pictured. The “Muggy Weld” stuff is different and much more expensive, we await more info on that product. Hopefully we will learn something good.

            A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
