Hi everyone, Im Jamie Wallace, I live in Columbus, Wisconsin. Im a past aomci member who just got back into it after going through years of financial issues. Things are looking up! I lost track of anything related to my old aomci account, so I guess it’s a fresh start.

My question is I’ve got 3 old projects going. Im doing omc coil conversions on all 3 motors, snice all 3 coils were shot. A Lockwood-Ash 72TL twin cyl. 4hp I think, an Evinrude 4212 twin cyl. 2.5hp & a Scott Atwater 473 3.5hp. Is there 1 omc condenser that work for all applications or would there be more than 1 I should use. Thanks, Jamie in Wisconsin

If you are installing an OMC coil I would use the same condenser that would have been with that coil in the OMC motor. That is what I did wit my Neptune that I used OMC coils on…

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I believe that it was Gary or Frank that has posted a pretty complete list of motor capacitor applications along with the corresponding capacitance values. The great majority of motors take a capacitor of .20 to .25 microfarad. Considering that the tolerance on the normal caps is about +/- 20% you would be OK using any very common .22uf cap. Hopefully someone will repost that list.

Subject always brings up lots of worthy comments and debate. These work for me. Cheap, too.

Ha! Dang it! Frank, it’s been a few years, totally could have saved a few bucks last night! Next time.

Yep. Note that I put a piece of tubing over the points wire and soldered a terminal on the end. But I guess the tubing isn’t necessary.

A dab of silicone to secure the cap would be helpful if seen as a requirement.
