      Good day,

Just acquired a Johnson JW-10 (Actual Model and Serial number JWW100 & 1202121) with a carburetor that leaks fuel. I am looking for links to repair manuals and IMG_2138-resized

videos on this carb rebuild.  Trying to collect all information I can before I take her apart. Suggestions for a new AOMC member is appreciated.

simple standard carb  …leaks are usually  related to   float…..  inlet needle….  gaskets….  and packing on the needle (lower one)

great motors btw… check compression ….the head gasket sometimes blows in the mid section.

It is almost a guarantee that it needs new coils.  Unless they have already been replaced.

what to expect under the flywheel … nothing  complex or serious after you do a few 🙂   change condensers and  the plug wires and boots   replace impeller to !!

Partially took the carb apart and found that the needle controlled by the float needed a little coaxing.  After putting her back together, got her running on two pulls.  My outboard water test tank sprung a bad leak so I quickly closed up shop for the day.  Once I get to a reliable tank I will try to run her for awhile and do some fine tuning as needed.  If I do need to go further the coils will most likely be in her future.

                Thank you,

                Mike

Well maybe it was serviced at some point and the ignition was done.  The lower unit on that JW looks brand new!  So clean compared to the cowling .  Do you think that the lower part has been re-painted?

they get hot running in a tub…to many  bubbles  generated from the prop……………… so run it slow and keep an eye on the  temperature !

install the little pull down spring on the needle…!
