Thanks tubs great visual, helps so much. Took Monday off went down to Fenway park. Putting everything back together today after work, hopefully I’ll have it in the tank tomorrow it’s getting late.
September 3, 2025 at 3:59 pm #299600So I got it to pop a couple of times, seems to be going in the right direction. Should I have a prop on it trying to start it in my trash can? Gas leaking by the float I guess, it’s leaking down through the butterfly valve, dripping off that spring screw. Not sure what’s the problem. I’ll go through it again. Not getting the float in the right position ?
September 3, 2025 at 7:35 pm #299607Your not likely to be able to keep the water in your trash can with the prop on. Be careful not to over rev it. Get it running at the bench first. Carburetor running over – Turn the gas on for a minuet, then shut it off. Loosen the packing nut and back it out along with the fuel shutoff. Catch the fuel in a clean container or letting run it run on to a to a clean rag or fresh paper towel. Your looking for dirt. If you find some its explains why you carb is running over.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

September 3, 2025 at 10:18 pm #299613Look real close at Tubs pic of the carb. The choke spring has to be free behind the screw. Also the butterfly choke plate must be flat to work well. When starting out of water you may burn the waterpump impeller.
September 3, 2025 at 10:34 pm #299615I take the impeller out, or don’t put it in, till I have one where I believe it will run before I put them in the tank. That lifting one in and out of the tank becomes more difficult as time passes. Do what is the easiest for you.

September 6, 2025 at 12:23 pm #299673Happy Saturday, Okay it’s been a few days now, not much further along. I built a new stand and tank setup it’s working great. That being said I have managed to get it to fire up it makes one good pop! then it seems to have to much fuel kind of dripping out the front of the carb, then wait a few minutes pull again and pop ! I’m guessing only firing on one cylinder? Checked the spark light again lights up on both cylinders. Not all the fuel is getting pulled in and burning off? The gas isn’t running out of the vent at the top of the float so I think that’s working?
Taking lunch then back out to the shop.
Had a delicious tuna melt with fresh tomato from the garden, took a little nap, then back to the shop, I got to thinking, did a little reading in the manual different trouble shooting things, then looked at one of the other KF7’s and noticed the spark plug wire with the band around it is on the lower spark plug. The KG7 has the band on the top spark plug so I switch them around and yes the thing fires up first pull. I’m so excited! To get it on the river for fall foliage.
Thanks for all your help it’s great to have you guys out there. -
