      Another thing is these resurrected outboards may have 20 years of old oil buildup on the inside of the exhaust chamber. Modern oil has a detergent component that will clean out this and old fogging oil build up used for long time storage. . . 😀

        Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the unburned fuel/oil mix that you are seeing in the barrel… it’s a 2 cycle engine and that’s completely normal. In fact any two cycle motor that I’ve ever ran in a test tank will do the same thing, even the modern motors. Just the nature of the beast. Run it 24/1 and have fun! BTW, great looking rig!

          Mark,
          Excellent job on the boat and motor! If you’re concerned about the oil, I would try synthetic like another member mentioned.
          I would be concerned about the low compression numbers. 90 is quite low for that motor. A good number is 120 lbs. At 90 lbs you’re going to have issues with idling, etc. Maybe the rings are stuck or are sticky and they will free up after running at WOT. Does it idle well?
