That fracture is pretty common, from over-tightening the filter bolt. It shouldn’t be too hard to find another, unbroken part. That piece was used on a gillion engines. With new cork gaskets, over-tightening will not be necessary and sealer won’t be needed, either.

      Long live American manufacturing!

New part is $112!! from Oldmercs. I’ll watch for used one on ebay but the JB should hold.

          At that rate, you could buy a 3D printer . . . 🙄

That would be a good trick with the pin holes and threads for needle seat. I have some nice cork for new gaskets that won’t need much torque to seal. Let’s see Clinton runs, merc parts on way, sea king seals are here, new cruise installed in old rv, late uncle’s van at farm needs brakes and the toilet there is leaking. Is that a full bucket?

Got the pump cover and gaskets but I have another question. As you see in the photo the original plastic cover has a vent port over the smaller part of the diaphragm. The cast replacement does not. Should I drill one in it? I’m thinking the cover went on a pump whose center section hard a port. Other than that it should run as the carb wasn’t dirty.

After seeing a drawing of the pump in Clymer 4-40hp 1964-75 I’m concluding a port is useless as the chamber that would receive pressure relief is the output side feeding the carb. Why would the pulse to the float chamber need buffering?
