I’ve been using Penzoil full synthetic TCW3 for a while now.
Anybody know where to find it? Is it still available?
I used to get it at Menards, they don’t carry it anymore.
Tried Wallmart, Kmart, Auto zone, Big R, Ace hardware and Advance auto.
Settled on Amsoil full synthetic.
Now the question is can I mix this with the Penzoil?
I’ve got a half tank of fuel mix and want to go fishin tomorrow.
Thanks for any help.Steve A W
July 4, 2017 at 3:09 am #60939In the absence of knowledge, I wouldn’t mix them. At one time the synthetic oils were made from different base materials, and were not necessarily miscible or chemically compatible with each other.
That may have changed; hope you can get a definitive answer.
July 4, 2017 at 4:34 am #60945Evinrude said never mix. They found some brands of gear case oil when mixed would combine and foam causing enough pressure to rupture seals. The very first synthetic outboard oil was made by Lenard Refineries in Michigan. A few months after tentative introduction it was found to react in combustion with a winter gas additive used by a Wisconsin refinery to form a super glue. Dad made Lenard a distributer so they wouldn’t go bankrupt over the 1000 plus outboards they replaced under there oil warrantee in south west Michigan. The oil was quickly pulled from the market as was the ad campaign. Lenard pretended it never happened. A lot of off brand outboard owners were very happy with there new Evinrudes . . . š
July 4, 2017 at 11:43 am #60953West Marine says the 100% Penzoil is no longer available. I’m glad I bought 3 gallons a couple years ago. Still have one left.
July 4, 2017 at 11:53 am #60954I wonder why it got discontinued. I still have a few gallons left from Menards closeout last year. I bought all I could get at that time and really like the oil.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I didn’t mix any new fuel, came in on fumes !
That was the last of the Penzoil mix.
I’ll clean the tank and mix a batch with the Amsoil.
Does anybody use Amsoil full synthetic?Tubs
I just wish I could afford an electric outboard.Steve A W
July 5, 2017 at 9:56 am #61014I got some from West marine last year, trying to do the right thing, even though list price of the stuff was $72 a gallon. I think I paid $58 with my employee discount. So, while I am sorry to hear it’s gone, my wallet isn’t. At that price, I bet it was not a big seller!
Long live American manufacturing!

was still more than enough people were willing to
pay for Pennzoil to continue to offer it. Close out
was like $22.00 and I bought 12. Have 8 left.
Amzoil INTERCEPTORĀ® Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil is $45.00
A gallon. That is a bit pricy for many in this hobby
depending on how much you use a year. I have
been convinced that a blend will provide the same
performance as a full synthetic but itās not biodegradable.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I tried the synthetic blend a few years ago.
It stank ā ā
It smelled worse than the cat box when the kids were supposed
