Just last week I used POR 15 fuel tank sealant 49216 to seal a tank on a 1938 Handitwin. The 49216 has a silver metalic tint to it. This was the first time I used POR 15 to seal a tank. When the sealant dried it left some areas that look as though the sealant is transparent. When I rubbed my finger over the area it does feel that the area is coated. This makes me think that the metalic tint did not stay mixed with the sealant liquid. I did dip a cork float to see how it would react. Dipping the float left a heavy coat on the cork , and I wondered if it might make the float to heavy.  If I do another I will brush the sealant on the float with a small brush. Maybe do a couple of thin coats. POR is hard to clean up. I used a cork to seal the tank fill while sealing . I put the cork that I used in a bottle of acetone when I was done with it. Acetone didn’t seem to dissolve the POR 15 or so I thought. I checked the cork after seeing your post and the cork is clean. Acetone made the sealant release from the cork. I was surprised. I have used POR 15 black paint in the past and nothing seemed to dissolve it.

Before I stopped putting a sealer on corks I
tried Kreem fuel tank sealer. I bushed on 3
coats (as I remember). It seemed to be working
fine until after about 3 years I went to use the
motor and the float bowl was running over.
Found that the sealer had separated from the
cork and the cork was stuck in the float bowl.
I cant say for sure but I suspect gas got under
the sealer at the hole for the float pin (needle).
The increase in weight didn’t seem to be a
problem. If your going to try it I’d suggest you
check it each time before you plan to use the
motor. This was a motor I used quite a bit so
it took a while. I have used both Kreem & Red
Koat sealers. Both state to use acetone to
            remove them.
