      Hi Guys,
I’m looking for some prop information. I just finished up a 1966 FD 20 rebuild and it is going onto a very small light boat. I’m looking for a 15 pitch prop for this motor. Does anyone know if a 15 pitch is available for this motor and who might carry them? I have an 11 pitch 2 blade for it now, but would like to upgrade.

      Thanks Guys,
      Wannabe

Small light boat leaves a lot on the table. Hydro, flat bottom, runabout, aluminum or fiberglass, length was left out as well. While we are ready to help none of us are mind readers.
Very few will need that much pitch. Find what you can, test and verify RPMs and then have a prop shop tailor the prop to your needs. An AJC-417 is one prop in particular that can get the job done but nowhere near that pitch.
I have one that has been made into a cleaver style that may work on your "small light boat"……whatever it is !! 😀

The boat is a 1966 SkiBird. It’s 8′ long, hull weight is about 160lbs. It’s a little fiberglass hydro made by GW Invader before they started making the larger racing boats. Bottom is flat at the rear with a very slight curve up at the chines. Bottom has one projected keel down the center, 2.5" high that fades to flat about 2′ from the stern. Bottom to transom transition is a very sharp angle and dead rise is 12 degrees. This boat was only made a few years and info on it is limited. About the only info I have found is on Fiberglassics in their library. This is the boat that was the precursor to the more famous 10 footer that brought them some fame. These are rare little boats these days and I am completely restoring this one to original specs and design as best I can with the limited info available on the boat. See image below. The prop I currently have is a brass Michigan AJC 201.

AJC 201 is 8-1/2 x 11 For Michigan the largest listed in my books is AJC 417 9-1/4 x 12 Brass
            AJC 418 9-1/4 x 12 Aluminum

The AJC 418 seems like it would be more in line with what I am searching for. The Aluminum being lighter by quite a bit might let the motor build it’s RPM’s quicker. I will try searching one out.

              Thank you

Sure like your boat. Is that running a 20hp? First thing I would do was to get rid of that sharp steering wheel. If you go over it the feelings will not be good. Just my opinion.

That is not my boat in the picture. Mine is just like it but in 2 halves right now as I have just replaced the core and transom. I have many days of sanding in front of me before the 2 halves will be joined back together again. I ran the boat last year with a 67 Merc 200 on it. It was a handfull. The boats came stock with the butterfly wheels for steering on them, but I will be running a 10" round deep dish padded wheel. I agree. I would not want to take that butterfly wheel in the chest or the face.

Do any of you know of a person or shop that could re work my 201 prop to give it a bit more pitch and a bit of cup? I know we have some prop masters in the club, I just do not know who..
