When I bought my first old outboard, a QD-10, I had no idea of collecting. I just wanted to go fishing/duck hunting. Since the pressure tank I got with my QD was a two piece from sitting on the dirt floor of a barn and the only tanks I found were in need of hoses and diaphram but their owners wanted more than what I paid for the motor I had to get inventive.
The other roadblock was that the early QD is a totally different powerhead so the later transfer port covers don’t fit. So. Using one of the small square pumps I attached one corner to the transfer port cover then I drilled one hole in the crankcase for the pulse and drilled and tapped another for the other mount screw. Added a short piece of fuel hose between the crakcase and the pump to carry the pulse, replace the connector with a single hose one, and replumbed with fresh hose. Almost 30 years later it’s still working. And it has way too much company in the shed.
