Last year, I picked up a 1928 Ruddertwin still sitting in the original box. Tags and all. Original location of sale and owners names written on the wooden box. The motor had probably been run a few times, but not much. I’m in the process of cleaning it up and will display at a few meets, and will get it running to be used carefully.

As much as it’s nice to look at, I’d get more satisfaction seeing it run.

I guess if something is absolutely brand new, than it might be nice to keep it that way (sort of like breaking the plastic off of a collectors item), but once it’s past that stage, then my vote is to use it!

That is a motor that I would use a couple times a year and the rest of the year, I would use an older motor.

          46,
Kind of like my new Mark 75, 78 driveshaft. I bought it still in the box sealed up. Really was new only I’m not trying to sell it to the world.
I could care less what anyone thinks about my parts. I know it’s new.

No surprise there. I have actually seen unrestored, new looking copies fetch a lot of money. A CD fetched over $1,400
If this guy offered shipping and waited till Spring tiime, he’ll have a better chance.

That’s because of current inflation over a few days. 😯

i’m a big fan of running motors because that’s what they were made for and not a big believer in sawhorse queens that being said if I found a brand-new motor that had never been run before, I would not run it, but if it had been run even once or twice then I would run it and just be careful with it… And that’s my two cents worth 😎
