Hi all it’s been a while but back again with another question 😀 I picked up this RBM but it has no ID tag on the tank I think it might be 1922 but would like some conformation, is there any other way to tell the year, Thanks

It has a coil under the flywheel and a 1″ 1/2 fuel cap.

Your garden variety Evinrude “A” , with the reversing lower unit. Interesting modification to the tiller handle, I suspect to afford a better grip to twist the tiller handle into F or R mode.  Mid 1920 ‘s I would guess.

Going by the gear case it’s earlier than 1920. I’m not very knowledgeable on these. I believe that gear case was used from 1913 to 1919. If anybody tells you different – you should listen to em.

So I’m still OK if I order these decals and plate from American outboards.

I believe your good with both.   You have the rest of the parts?

Its 1922 or earlier because its a RH rotation prop lower unit. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys I’ll push on so with the restoration, I did get a box of bits with it and it seems to be all there the fuel tank is in bad shape full of holes that will need brazing, the tilt arms are missing off the transom bracket looks like they were riveted on so probably not original but easy to make new ones. I haven’t tested the coil yet but hopefully I can get it going again, the keyway was snapped in half so hopefully that was the only reason she was put away. Thanks again. 👍🏻
