What is the black rubber doughnut for in an OMC carb kit 439071?
September 2, 2019 at 7:57 pm #182493That kit was used in dozens of OMC motors. It may be a seal in an outboard you have never seen.

September 2, 2019 at 9:49 pm #182502It provides a seal between the high speed jet and the main carb body. Won’t work without it.

???Aren’t you thinking about the cork seal shown to the left of the float valve needle in the picture??

September 2, 2019 at 11:52 pm #182512I believe this is the high speed nozzle seal.

September 3, 2019 at 7:56 am #182518I’ve got dozens of those o-rings and don’t know what carbs they are used in.
September 3, 2019 at 10:16 am #182522I only worked on a couple of these over the years so memory’s a little fuzzy, but I think there was a fat o-ring like that in the ’53 Johnson 10 horse carb. I know the kit doesn’t specify that year, but I checked my parts manual for the number (part 72 – 302832) then searched to find a picture of it, and it looks like it could be the same. Maybe someone who’s got a QD-14 could verify.

Some great observations, thank you. -
