It was a nice meet. I did see there were some Canadian chapter members there. Too bad you didn’t make it. At least you got some work done.

August 23, 2017 at 8:24 pm #63697I got them done at Mayfair plating in Toronto.
August 24, 2017 at 11:36 am #63720Thanks I’ll look them up. I have to figure out how to get the starter knob off the flywheel.
To me it looks like the flywheel nut, flywheel, tank and jugs were the bits nickel plated. Was there anything else?
Looks like the copper lines and bolts were zinc plated. Perhaps the bronze steering mount as well?
Was anything painted?
August 24, 2017 at 1:13 pm #63726The starter knob is driven out from the bottom, ensure the driver is smaller than then screw. Flip the flywheel upside down leaving clearance for it to be driven down. When installing push the knob in from the top and use a ball peen hammer to "flare" the flange out to hold the know in place.

After paying for the tank, and jugs, I polished the rest! I am going to do my flywheel as well though, and nut. They don’t last long not plated. I told Wayne today I can bring the parts in for you guys as I am working nearby.
August 25, 2017 at 4:44 am #63749That is not how I expected the starter knob to be removed. Ian knocked it out tonight. Someone must have removed it once before as it came out with little effort.

August 25, 2017 at 10:11 am #63752Tubs picture shows what happens when you logically think that it would unscrew… like I did the first time…lol Then I believe it was Chris Scratch that advised me on the proper way to remove them.

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 25, 2017 at 2:42 pm #63760I learned how to get them out from Richard. I think
everybody who wanted to take one out first tried to
unscrew it. That’s what I did. The slot would seem
to indicate that is how it was assembled. This part
may have been designed on April first. 🙄A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
