10 hp Scott Bail a Matic has just had both impellers replaced but is still not circulating water. Attempts have been made to prime, block off bailer with no success. Any tips would be welcome. Motor is strong. Would love to run it. Thanks.

I assume this is the curved leg model with the pumps below the powerhead. The water pump on those motor is a stainless steel insert that sits in a cast aluminum housing. I have found instances where corrosion gets under the insert and warps it upward in the center. The impeller makes poor contact with the insert, vacuum is lost, and the pumps will not prime up from the water inlet. Start by checking the pump housing to see if the bottom of the insert is flat.

If it is, then be sure there are no air leaks between the pump housing and the water inlet.

I have found to remove the housing from it’s home, heat the aluminum a little. Scott made motors, they used something like contact cement in the base. I’ve bent a few inserts till I used a little heat to melt the cement & slightly expand the aluminum. Straight leg Scott’s have a seal under the impeller housing. Tom do the swept legs have a seal there too?

Not to hack but try a Mark 28 impeller change, Total tear down & pound it out from where the powerhead was! 😮 Frank knows!!
