Silicon grease packet???

What is the small silicon grease packet that comes with a new set of points/condenser used for???

Should also be a felt pad to lubricate the cam. The packet contains the lubricant for the pad.

That makes sense. The pad seemed to already have grease in it but it makes sense to add some. Is this a maintenance issue where you pull the flywheel occasionally and add some grease to the pad?

If the pad is already lubricated, don’t put more lubricant on it. Save the capsule for later. I wouldn’t remove the flywheel very often just to add lubricant. You may have a port on top of the flywheel to access the points.  You may be able to add lubricant through that port. I just add a few drops of 3-in-1 oil to the felt pad whenever I’m in there. Don’t over -lubricate.

The felt pad is for oil. The grease  would be placed on the back side of the fiber block of the points that runs on the cam. As it wears grease is  deposited on the cam lubricating and extending the life of the fiber block. As you have a felt pad you can discard the grease.           Tubs

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I heard that you are supposed to swallow that pill 1/2 hour before replacing the points.  That will dilate your eyeballs so you can set the points gap without a feeler gauge.

FR… today  some would take you to your word and  swallow it…and still complain the timing was off !!  then sue !    funny nonetheless !

Ive  washed the pad with dishsoap to get it clean & relube, but I like Tubs & Franks suggestions better.
