I’m thinking of using high end automotive plug wires on my KG7. Any concerns?

I doubt it silicon is very heat resistant ……. on any friction spot I have installed a protective sleeve (split wire tubing which comes in various sizes see picture in the other post

my latest installs were Napa solid core wires from Belden

40 $ for 7mm 8 solid core wires with nice plug boots installed I figured it was not bad vs the price of boot prices alone + $2/foot wire core plug wire

          Crosby,
I like copper wires too except stranded wire. Can be had at a Neon shop, called gto wire & ask for high flex, multi strand GTO Gas Tube ONLY
          Looks like 7mm plug wire.

Those automotive wires are likely resistance wires to suppress ignition noise to the radio. Not sure how that would play with a magneto, but will probably work OK if you can get them connected, as you won’t have copper wire ends if you need them to connect to the magneto coils. I buy general replacement copper core wire sets made for old farm equipment at Tractor Supply Company. I have a store near me but they are available online.

This is a copper core set, although they only show one wire:

NAPA bmx700175 is made with strand wire core ( look closely at the picture) not carbon core…

.may not be pure copper but 2 feet won’t change much resistance wise.

the extra rubber boots are for the distributor end and not usable over sparkplugs (not a big loss anyway.)

these are older style wires & the NAPA dealer told me they don’t sell much … he had to order from another dealer or the main depot.

Jacks Small Engines website has Stens wire, 20′ copper, for $20.88- about a dollar and four cents a foot. Stens # 135004. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/part/universal/135004 I tried suppressor wire before on a “57 Fleetwin, ran like crap. Local lawnmower shop sold me some copper core, now it runs like a champ.

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.

kerry… my prices are CDN … of course we have the extra echange rate + 30% then we have provincial and federal taxes +15% , credt carb surchages 1-2 % + mailing costs (exhorbitant from USA) and……plus plug boots (same $$ issues) 🙂

the only thing cheap here are heart/brain surgeries and knee caps and broken bones :- )
