The photos that went “poof” as I tried to post in the last couple of days magically showed up here above on page 4 today, so please disregard the duplication. First post just like this one also disappeared! maybe this one will get through.
DaveMarch 12, 2021 at 12:21 pm #233674I’ve bought Teleflex cables from boatersland – prices reasonable – use your end connectors from the old cables – link below:

I like your Crestliner – either a 1957 Viking14 or in 1958 it was called a Voyager14, same model number. Here’s mine:
Thanks for all the help! That’s a nice boat you have.
My boat came with a 59 Lark, but sadly with a blown
piston. I may haul it to Tomahawk this summer to sell
it, as I don’t want to sell off one part at a time.I ordered the cables from the place you mentioned.
The cables were cheap, but the $28 they tagged on
for shipping was not!Prepare to be boarded!
March 12, 2021 at 12:31 pm #233680My ’59 Lark may be a parts motor with something blown too – after running for a couple years, it stopped on the lake with a loud “POP” noise. Now I can only turn the flywheel about 1/4 turn by hand – maybe a bent rod? That was 2 years ago and I haven’t gotten around to tearing it down. It may provide parts for my ’58 Super Sea Horse 35 that needs lower gearcase parts – oh and that motor is completely stuck, but the price was right.. I have been fixing the easier motors first. Next may be a 1958 35 standard Johnson that doesn’t turn completely over because of a mouse nest in the lower cylinder that I can see through the spark plug hole..The mouse must have come up the exhaust housing while it was stored horizontally in a garage by the previous owner.

March 17, 2021 at 6:30 pm #234085I’m happy to say I installed my new control cables today.
The 11′ and 12′ cables seem just right to go behind the
seat back and still have slack enough to turn the motor to
both extremes. The new cables are a lot more limber than
the old ones.
Thanks for all the help figuring this out!Prepare to be boarded!
March 17, 2021 at 8:17 pm #234106Very nice…clean installation. Should notice MUCH smoother movement. Did you go with regular cables or Extreme cables?
March 17, 2021 at 8:17 pm #234107Looks just right!!

Beats me, these are the ones I got. Seems like very nice quality.

March 18, 2021 at 10:31 am #234136Those are the standard cables…which has been the industry standard for years and they work great. I forgot they don’t make the extreme cables for the 400 style cable. The extreme cables have a different core system which makes for a much smoother operation. When I have a choice I always go with the extreme cable….here you don’t have the choice. You should still have noticed a huge difference in smoothness.
March 18, 2021 at 11:36 am #234142Looks great! You will find that with a lot of use, the rubber grommets on the holes in the splashwell will wear from the cables rubbing on them. When you see them wearing, either replace them before the cables rub through the rubber to the aluminum edge, or turn the grommet 180 degrees to put a new surface on the cables’ max wear point.
You can fit the battery box between the cables and the seat – pushing the cables rearward some like in my photo but they will still work fine.

March 18, 2021 at 9:53 pm #234231Dan, yes the new cables made a huge difference in flexibility and smoothness
of operation.Dave, I “think” my grommets are okay, but now you got me wondering. Thanks!
I just got a new battery box. Tomorrow I’ll figure out a place for it, and I have
to crawl under the bow to tie up the excess motor harness somehow…….
then I think it’s ready for a test run, as soon as the ice goes out, that is.Prepare to be boarded!
