Those things are a sorry excuse for an add on accessory to an outboard motor for a boat design problem! They are shin skinners and look horrible on your engine in my opinion. You couldn’t pay me to put them on an engine. Someone put a set on an engine I have now and the A/V plate is broken from it. I am in the process of changing out the gearcase because of it. Give me a little more time and I will tell you how I really feel about them.

Years ago my friend had a 15′ – 16′ boat with a 70hp OMC, and it wouldn’t quit porpousing (I don’t know how to spell the "darn" word) without them.

If you need something I just parted a 55 for the powerhead to install on my Mk 30 tiller mtr, nice two blade bronze prop too. I’ll trade for a Mk 30 prop.

Around here there are lots of ‘hard to get up on plane’ heavy, deep vee hull boats for the ocean and if the bottom end torque/horsepower is marginal, the dolphins appear. Some people I’ve talked to who have them swear by them while others can’t tell the difference. They must have a following though as a even a mid eighties 7.5 Evinrude I just picked up had, you guessed it, dolphins!
