November 5, 2019 at 8:51 am #186496I ran down a missing upper drive shaft and impeller. The impeller looks good and matches up with the housing. The drive shaft appears to be 1/2 inch too long even when fully seated in the crankshaft. Maybe from a different model? I could cut it down but I’m wondering if I am missing something obvious… -

November 5, 2019 at 6:25 pm #186523If I’m seeing what I think is your concern, you are missing the point that the impeller is upside down on the shaft. The flat side of the impeller is supposed to be on the bottom, against the top of the gearcase. George November 5, 2019 at 7:27 pm #186527NO – The flat part goes against the housing. It picks up water from the center and throws into the outside (Centripetal Force) Early models had a different tiller arrangement. The drive shaft is Parkerized to prevent rust. Put the trimmed part at the top. Be sure the spline does not bottom out and bind the crank shaft.

November 6, 2019 at 7:04 am #186544Pls look at 2nd/4th pic again. The shaft on the lower right in pic 4 is the lower drive shaft. This is off a 39 and mine is a 35. Maybe they changed those dimensions at some point or it’s off another engine altogether. November 6, 2019 at 8:25 am #186550Yes they did – trim it to fit.
November 6, 2019 at 8:41 am #186551 November 6, 2019 at 8:41 am #186551PS – Also – The guy tells me from an ELTO. Still looking for coils – otherwise coming right along. -

November 6, 2019 at 8:44 am #186556Another PS: Pic 4 is the enrichment valve. The leather washer look remarkably good. Has anyone had any luck substituting another material or I suppose you could cut new ones from leather. November 6, 2019 at 8:24 pm #186616I sincerely apologize…..Garry is correct. George November 7, 2019 at 8:21 am #186636Still looking for coils – I’d like to use the original/correct coils but if I can’t round them up and want to get it to run then I have to find another solution.
