Can you tell us when the outboards were stolen? I was at an antique engine and steam show in PA on the 18th of August and this Indian was there at the swap meet. I was very interested in it. At the time the individual selling it was asking $7500

      Thanks
      James

Does AOMCI still have a registry of motors?

I am always suspicious of ads on Craigslist or E-Bay that don’t post a photo, and will not buy from them. Photos make it easier for the original owner to ID them, so with no photo, there’s a better chance it’s stolen.

For those stolen motors – check out local pawn shops too!

I work for the town of Stonington and visit properties in town every day. I’ll keep my eyes open. How many motors were taken? I just can’t see a bunch of old motors being targeted by thieves. They must have known about them ahead of time. A common house burglar wouldn’t look twice at old outboards. Bulky and hard to fence…

i’m also suspicious of motors with camo paint jobs hiding a stolen motor, also won’t buy one with the motor id plate removed

This is bull shirt, I will bring it up at our next meeting here in the desert too. A photo would help too. I thank George for posting too!
Jeff Register, Arizona President, we will look here too! I had an Indian motorcycle years ago. I was told Plymouth pistons would fit my cylinders, as it smoked badly!
