November 22, 2016 at 10:35 pm #47843quote FrankR:Not having one in front of me, I gotta ask this. The link between the cam follower and carburetor lever–do the two levers have more than one hole in each? I am thinking the link rod goes in the outermost hole in the cam follower lever and the innermost hole in the carburetor lever. At least that is the way I remember it without having one to look at.
Frank,
Yes it has two holes for the link in each lever. I had the link in the outer hole on the top and inner hole on the bottom. In this configuration the throttle plate was no where near horizontal at WOT magneto position.
As this motor came to me in pieces it is a puzzler. I ended up making a new link that is slightly longer that seems to work for now.
Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.

November 23, 2016 at 2:22 am #47869David, your linkage is in the same holes as mine is. The difference is that your link is bent and mine is straight between the two arms. Here is the picture of mine.
I hope this helps. Looking at your picture, it almost looks like your link bar may not be original, but I could be wrong there. Mine has tiny holes through the short ends that fit through the holes in the arms to allow wires or pins to retain the link bar on the arms.

Thanks for the pic. My link is homemade. I made it a bit too long so I put a kink in it to shorten it up.
Thanks again.

November 23, 2016 at 2:53 am #47875OK, so maybe it comes down to the roller. Is the roller too small or worn? From the pic it looks better than mine. Can you get the throttle synced properly with the throttle cam? Is the shift lever in forward gear when you are trying to get full throttle?

The roller is perfect. With my new k link I can sinc the mag with the roller and get WOT so I should be good.
One possibility is the roller shaft thingy could be bent. When I have more ambitio I will compare it with another.

November 23, 2016 at 1:02 pm #47892Dave, I’m thinking as long as you can sync at idel.and reach WOT that’s all that matters and you have it solved. I apparently missed that part of your previous post when you said you made a longer link and it seems to be working now. I’d be curious to see how it compares with a stock one at some point but I believe it doesn’t matter as long as it is working.

November 23, 2016 at 3:46 pm #47904I figured it out. It was the roller arm shaft thingy that was bent just enough to cause the issues related above.
I swapped it out and tried another one and it works correctly with the original link.
Here are pics of the two. Hard to see the difference but the blue painted one has the right bend and the non painted one has the better roller which will get swapped.
Thanks again for the help and suggestions and photos.
November 23, 2016 at 4:00 pm #47909Thanks for posting that Dave. I can see the difference. The flat on the unpainted one is indexed differently which shows the bend. That is it. I have not run into that one yet.
