Did 3 motors this winter. I take lots of
pictures but have a hard time getting
my self to go through them all to post.
This is the motor that needed the least
so the fewest pictures. While I was
painting something else red I gave the
mag. lever a shot. I don’t think its
suppose to be painted but I couldn’t help
myself. The rest of the motor just got a
cleaning. Tried to video it running in
pond-o-plastic Wednesday but the wind
was blowing so hard you can barely hear
it. Yesterday was a better day.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95y-sPXKCiM
A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
May 12, 2018 at 4:21 pm #75844That is a beautiful old Merc. Would sure love to learn more about these engines someday.
The "dummy club" is a large organization with many members, welcome!May 12, 2018 at 4:37 pm #75848Great clean up! I think any of us would be proud to own it.
Im the President of the Dummy Club!
May 12, 2018 at 5:43 pm #75850Not much of a Merc fan, but I’ve had a few. This one looks GREAT. Good work & looks like you started with a good specimen. I love the red lever. Matches with the red insignia on the front of the cowling. COOL!
Yeah, I must love to do dumb stuff. I do it all the time. Don’t even seem to learn much from it anymore. Use to experience taught you something, now it’s just a memory & I can’t remember anything!Dan in TN

how is it motors multiply when the garage lights get
turned off?May 13, 2018 at 9:58 am #75889I love the growl they have, when you open them up. Seems like they should use a cigar for a mag lever, as if the thing were a manifestation of Carl, himself.
Long live American manufacturing!

and pumps water like a fire truck!Prepare to be boarded!
May 13, 2018 at 2:50 pm #75908Sir Tubs, your attention to detail is amazing.
You should write a book. It would make Peter Hunn proud!
Bob DMay 14, 2018 at 12:45 am #75937I was also messing with a Martin 75 Twist shift.
More out of curiosity to learn about new things
that got me to start on this motor as I don’t really
find it visually appealing. I got it in a "take one –
take them all" deal. The motor was beat up with
damaged and missing parts. twostroke was a
big help in getting some of the missing parts I
needed and with the advice from members it runs
again. Here are some pictures.
I really don’t find the motor much to look at.
Its not as nice as the Mark-7.
I had some paint to use up.
