the carb adjustment and primer plunger is attached to the carb with a small screw just next to the nut

I assume the plunger rod should simply pull out/up to allow it’s removal when you remove the tank but it is not.

at this stage I do not want to damage anything but it doesn’t is there a trick to this plunger rod disconnection from the carb body /primer ?

      thanks

Easy–remove the nut. You can stick something through the hole to prevent the plunger from rotating as you do, if necessary.

good point I assumed the vertical shaft would have just pulled out but removing that side nut will do if the whole thing can be pulled up with the tank

the fuel valve T handle also need to be taken out to snake it up trough the frame supporting the thank . I disconnected the neutral shift cable

next step is changing plug wires and points …points may still be good if not to pitted….or worn on the rub block

we’ll see as I work myself in this oldy.

          thanks

UPDATE….. the nut did it fine Frank…… fuel tank is off ! digging in 🙂
